Leucophylla Cronus Titan

Sarracenia Leucophylla “Cronus Titan”

The Sarracenia Leucophylla Cronus Titan is the result of crossing plants from Seminole County, Florida with plants from Baldwin County, Alabama.  It was Rob Sacilotto who did the pollination in 1981 with the aim to achieve plants with increased vigor.  Selecting the largest seedlings resulted in a cultivar with an unusually large size and vigorous growth.

Sarracenia Leucophylla Cronus Titan can produce pitchers up to 96 cm, but in my collection they vary in length between 60 cm to 75 cm.  Of course, weather conditions (hours of sunlight, humidity, etc…) can influence the growth and development of the plant.    As with most Leucophyllas, the largest and showiest pitchers are produced in late summer to fall.
